Rapid
Application Development (RAD) methodology uses the
following:
- Workshops
or focus groups in order to figure out and gather
the system requirements;
- System
prototyping and user testing of application designs;
- Re-using
existing software components;
- A
flexible schedule that can defer design improvements
and additions onto the next version of the system;
and
- Meetings,
reviews and communications are generally informal.
The basis
of this model of system application development is based
on the idea or concept that products can be made better
and developed faster when you use workshops and focus
groups to gather system requirements instead of some of
the more formal SDLC models techniques.
