Email Setup
For a new phone, I got one of the Motorola
Razr phones, in pink, I love it. It's sleek, slick and very
pink.
Previously I had a Motorola V220 and the
menu options on the RAZR are exactly the same as on my previous
phone. It doesn't come with a whole lot of games or anything
really exciting, but this thing is for talking and messaging,
not playing games. Bluetooth definately is a step-up because
now I can talk on the phone with friends for hours and not
have to worry about having to hold the phone to my ear, a
small purchase at my local store solved that problem. Now
I look like one of those people that walks around the house
and talks to myself.
I'm not a big text messaging person, but
I use it to communicate with my husband. I send him notes
every once in a while and a requirement that I personally
have is that I need to be able to send him messages. My husband
has a phone with a different cellphone carrier and in order
for me to message his phone I have to be able to text message
via email.
So I get the phone and bring it home. I have
the bluetooth wireless headset and I'm ready to send my husband
a text message. One problem, I can't put an email in the text
message phone area... On the V220 I could simply just type
in the email address and the message would send, this obviously
isn't going to work.
I called technical support.
The folks over at technical support were
very helpful. They sent me some GPRS (General Packet Radio
Service) settings and then tried sending me the MMS (Multimedia
Messaging Service) settings over the phone. The GPRS settings
transfered perfectly over and installed just fine. The MMS
settings didn't. Upon trying to add the MMS settings to my
phone I received the following error: "Exceeds Maximum
limit cannot add MMS Server Profile."
Technical support service technician told
me that he has never had anyone get that error message before...
Please hold for three to five minutes... Technical support
technician returned and advised that I return the phone for
an exchange.
I was then told that they couldn't give me
the MMS settings and so email from my phone wouldn't work...
That if I wanted email, I was going to have to return my phone
for a different one. This was not cool.
So I fixed the email problem. My browser
and internet connections was working just fine, so I figured
that I could configure email settings to use my gmail account.
Want to know how I added gmail
access to the cell phone?
